The magic of Christmas will arrive early in Ashland, Ohio at the Ashland County Historical Society’s Christmas Candlelight Open House.
This year the long-awaited completion of the Freer Children’s Home Museum will be open to the public along with the museum’s manor and Noonan houses. Historical Society guests will have the opportunity to view Christmas trees in every room decorated by our fantastic sponsors and other organizations. In the Manor House, children will be able to visit with Santa and enjoy freshly baked cookies. Visitors are also invited to head over to the Freer Children’s Home Museum for a special sneak peek at the newly renovated second floor.
According to the Ashland County Historical Society’s Events and Program Coordinator, Sydney Miller, “This year is special because we have twenty full-sized Christmas trees spread across our campus that are decorated by volunteers, community partners, garden clubs, and staff members, making this the biggest Christmas celebration yet.”
Be sure to mark your calendars for Sunday, December 11th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. for some early Christmas festivities! Both the Manor House and the Freer Children’s Home will be open for viewing.
Guests are encouraged to visit both locations to get the full experience. The Manor House is located at 414 Center Street, and the Freer Children’s Home is at 1260 Center Street.
This event is free and open to the public. The Ashland County Historical Society is dedicated to preserving the history of our small community; any contribution is welcome and greatly appreciated!
