Big news, Ashland! Our community has officially been named one of Ohio Magazine’s “Best Hometowns” for 2025–2026 — and we couldn’t be prouder to share this moment with you!

Each year, Ohio Magazine selects five communities that embody the best of small-town life in the Buckeye State. Cities are evaluated on their community spirit, education, entertainment, health & safety, business environment, and culture & heritage — and this year, Ashland stood out in all the right ways.

What Makes Ashland Shine 

From our vibrant downtown filled with local boutiques and cafes, to Ashland University’s close-knit connection with the community, to beloved traditions like BalloonFest and the Candy Cane Trail, Ashland continues to prove why it’s known as the World Headquarters of Nice People.

Our revitalized downtown has become a hub for shopping, dining, and entertainment — with the beautifully restored Ashland Theatre leading the way. Paired with a growing business community, new housing developments, and exciting local events, Ashland is truly someplace special.
