The Ashland County Historical Society is excited to announce the return of the Living History Cemetery Walk at Ashland Cemetery. Ashland’s historical figures will come to life through local re-enactors. Each character will spend a few minutes telling stories about their lives in Ashland and how they were an important part of our history. Period costumes worn by the re-enactors will further heighten the experience with an aura of authenticity.

Join us on Sunday, September 25 from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. for a fun-filled afternoon of education and exploration! Guided tours will begin promptly at 1:00 p.m., with groups leaving every ten minutes. The last tour will depart at 3:00 p.m.

Be sure to stop by our check-in booth upon arrival to be placed in your tour group!

This year’s cast of characters is as follows:

Dr. Gilbert and Mrs. Jeannette (Gallaher) Hess - founders of Hess & Clark Inc. (Jeff and Kim Davidson); Robert Carson Kinnaman MD - the second of a three-generation family of physicians for whom Kinnaman Park is named (Ed Krakora); Nellie Topping - the wife of a well-known Ashland businessman; William McNulty - the owner of the popular McNulty House Hotel on Main Street (Dave Kowalka); Mary Brinton Tubbs - whose memoirs about growing up in Ashland provide a snapshot of what life was like in Ashland many years ago (Debbie Sickmiller); and Francis Enoch Myers - co-founder of the esteemed F.E. Myers & Brother Company (Ken Hammontree).

The Living History Cemetery Walk is appropriate for families and people of all ages. The event is open to the public for a suggested donation of $5. No reservations are required.
