The celebration of Ashland’s Bicentennial this summer will feature an F.E. Myers & Brothers Exhibit that will include items that F.E. Myers & Brothers Co. sold between 1880 and 1960. The exhibit will run from July 1 to July 8 in the old Ashland Armory located at 512 E. Main St.

The exhibit will kick off July 1 at 6 p.m. with an opening ceremony that will feature Myers historian Cloyd McNaull as the speaker. The times for the exhibit are 6 to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Dale Smithhisler, who is organizing the exhibit, said he is hopeful that some of the Myers family will be in attendance at the opening ceremony.

Smithhisler said the exhibit will feature about 200 pieces from his personal collection of F.E. Myers items including pumps, hay equipment, calendars, literature and little bit of everything. He said his collection focuses on the items that were sold by the company when the Myers family had the business up to 1960.

“I have a little over 400 items restored,” Smithhisler noted.

Smithhisler said the property where the old Ashland Armory is now located was actually owned by P.A. Myers many years ago.

The City of Ashland is celebrating its 200th year anniversary during 2015 and will be hosting many different events as part of the year-long celebration, which is sponsored by Donley Auto Group.
