SUMMARY:Ohio Collage Society Member's Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:The Coburn Art Gallery at Ashland University is hosting a regio
 nal exhibition that will feature 70 captivating works by members of the Ohi
 o Collage Society from Friday\, May 29\, through Friday\, July 24. The free
  opening reception will be on May 29 from 6-7:30 p.m.The exhibition highlig
 hts a wide variety of collage technique\, including both two-dimensional an
 d three-dimensional forms that explore diverse materials and creative appro
 aches. Collage\, the art of assembling disparate materials to create a new 
 whole\, can be traced back to 200 B.C. and was named in the 20th century by
  artists Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque. It was derived from the French w
 ord coller\, meaning to glue.Featured artists in the exhibition include Ani
 ta Burgess\, Nancy S. Sotka\, Mary Ann Sedivy\, Cynthia Petry\, Gwen Waight
 \, Brenda Schneider\, Helen Wilson\, Karen Koch\, Shirley Ende-Saxe\, Care 
 Hanson\, Patricia Schroeder\, JoAnn Giordano\, Gail Taber\, Clare Murray Ad
 ams and Alexander Aitken.The Ohio Collage Society\, established in 2007\, w
 as founded by Gretchen Bierbaum\, who is also the founder of the National C
 ollage Society. Its 53 members exhibit a broad range of contemporary styles
  and ideas\, fostering appreciation\, production and visibility of this uni
 que art form by promoting it both in Ohio and nationally.The Coburn Gallery
 ’s summer hours are Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m.-4 p.m.\, as well as Sa
